Reverse Osmosis Treatment is used for cleaning water either for the industrial application or to convert the brackish water. This water treatment is also used for cleaning up wastewater or recovering various salts from the industrial processes.
In this process, the purified water is separated from the contaminated water via a cellophane-like membrane. Reverse Osmosis occurs when pressure is applied on the concentrated side of the membrane so that purified water can be forced to dilute the side. Then the rejected impurities that are there on the concentrated side are washed away on the rejected water. This treatment will not only remove the contaminants from the water such as trihalomethanes, some volatile organic compounds and pesticides. It even removes micro-organism that are large enough to be passed through the pores of the membrane.
